Math Formulas with LaTeX

This Wikipedia section on Formatting using TeX is a good starting point for learning how to typeset formulas in LaTeX. The page, however, gives also a lot of information on how to use LaTeX in Wikipedia. You should skip these sections, as they do not apply for the formating used by Simplace documentation. For instance, Wikipedia encloses formulas in <math> tags, whereas in Simplace inline formulas are enclosed by \( ... \) and block formulas are enclosed by \[ ... \].
